A Fun Activity Afternoon is in the planning for the 16th August. There will be various indoor and outdoor activities for the children to take part in.
So make a note in your diary and keep your eyes open for the Posters, Newsletter or check on our website lfelibrary.org for further details.
This year the theme for the Summer Reading Challenge celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the first Moon Landing. The challenge is open to children from the age of 4 to 11. When the children register they will be given a ‘Space Chase Mission Folder’ to get them started. All they have to do is read six books over two visits to the library. After reading the books they will receive stickers to put in their folder.
If they complete the challenge they will be awarded a medal and certificate.
You can sign up your child / children from Saturday 6th July – the date of our Coffee Morning so you could indulge in a coffee and cake whilst registering your child / children for the challenge.
On the 7th June a group of Volunteers attended a ‘Social Event’ at the Heathcote Arms for a Skittles Evening. The volunteers and their partners were split into two teams for two games of skittles, with a welcome break mid-way for a Supper and to top up their drinks.
The evening was finished off with a ‘Last Man Standing’ game which involved each player trying to knock the skittles down and were out of the game if no skittles were knocked over. A bottle of wine was presented to the overall winner.
It was also a chance for the volunteers to meet other volunteers they might not have met due to the different shifts that take place.
We are always happy to welcome new Volunteers who join us.
You don't need to be computer literate or be available every week.
Our current volunteers will be happy to speak to you about being a volunteer so please ask us.
To apply just pick up a signup sheet or visit our website, www.lfelibrary.org and apply online.
Any help would be appreciated.
