BOSOM BABIES

EVERY MONDAY – 10.30AM TO NOON

Bosom Babies Breastfeeding Support are all volunteers who have had training from and work alongside Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust.  The groups are informal, drop in’s for any breastfeeding mum or pregnant woman interested in breastfeeding.  They offer non-judgemental support to mums in a relaxed and friendly environment.  They help with common breastfeeding problems and refer onto the specialist Infant Feeding Team where issues are more tricky.

You don't have to be having a problem with breastfeeding to attend though, there is a huge social element and lots of mums make great friends at the groups. The groups are completely free to attend but there will be a Bake Week fundraiser once a month where donations to the library are welcomed in exchange for home baked treats.

PLANETARIUM SHOW

6TH AUGUST 10.30AM TO NOON

The University of Leicester visited the LFE Community Library on Tuesday 6th August with their Planetarium Show.  The event was attended by lots of children, along with siblings, parents and grandparents.

An inflatable Dome that reached the ceiling was erected and the children were able to lie on the floor and look up in to space to see the stars, planets and galaxies and they learnt about black holes.  Gabriel from the University also talked about the information gathered from the Space Stations along with lots of facts about space.

The morning was finished off with the children doing some colouring and making rockets before going outside into the car park to launch them.

It was an Absolutely Brilliant show and everyone was captivated by the whole experience.

Our thanks go to the University of Leicester for attending and Marilyn Pile (Trustee) for organising it all.’

KIDS FUN ACTIVITY AFTERNOON

16TH AUGUST – 2PM TO 4PM

After a week of wonderful sunshine, unfortunately the weather wasn’t kind to us and the heavens opened.

Despite this the children came along with their parents to enjoy an afternoon of fun with junk Rocket making (in line with the Summer Reading Challenge theme) as well as Lego Rockets with prizes for the best rockets in both challenges.  There was also a book themed tombola, decorating tiles, space themed word searches, making cup jellies with sweets.

A raffle was held with donations received from our volunteers and the local community.
